Optical Networks: SONET/SDH, DWDM, CWDM
Listed here are tutorials and workshops on the principles, design, and implementation of optical networks using technologies such as DWDM, CWDM, and SONET (also known as SDH). Depending on your transmission method, you may wish to look up our courses on ATM, IP, and Ethernet (see IP/Data Networks, Convergence). You may also be interested in the general networking topics covered in the Network Engineering curriculum.

The “tech level” of our courses on optical networking technologies can be adjusted up or down to suit the audience backgrounds. The Math and Physics needed to understand the SONET/SDH and DWDM courses will be covered within the course as required. The introductory DWDM course is a recommended prerequisite for the advanced course on DWDM. However, for those who need to delve deeply into DWDM but lack the prerequisite, an extended 3-4 day “basics to deep dive” version of the advanced DWDM course is offered. Courses with custom content combining SONET/SDH, DWDM, CWDM, and other technologies, are also available.
